Quick Update from Moscow!!!

So, have a few minutes while Randy is getting Brayden down for a nap!! Things here are going really well! Can't believe it's already Wednesday and tomorrow we'll be bringing our little boy home forever! The last two days have been going really well and he's adjusting great! He is eating great,, LOVES the formula we brought which I am so happy about and inhales it!! He's sleeping through the night about 10 hours straight, although naps have been a bit of a challenge due to appts being scheduled during his usual time, and in the afternoon he just wants to play and explore! I am so so in love with him, I miss him right now as I am in the lounge checking email and updating! : ) Our biggest challenge has definitely, 100% been bath time. Wow, it's really hard. He's this cute, happy, giggly boy then once we get him undressed and in the bathroom, forget it! He's screaming his head off and shaking. He is so, so afraid of the tub. It is heartbreaking, but the two of us made it through but it was really hard.

So another quick trip for us, but honest I'm so glad it worked out this way! WIth the embassy being closed THursday and Friday this week, they expidited our passports/visas so we got everything done today! So, we got here Sunday, picked him up from the baby home on Monday, physical yesterday and Embassy today!! We are done.. well except for the 11 hour plane ride. Sigh. WE'll make it through. Praying that he does okay. He loves being held and rocked and walking when he's sleepy and cranky so hoping for a smooth flight where we can get up with him a lot!

Well, I will update more and post pics once we are home! Haven't had any luck doing it here!

  2. Yeah! Hope all is well. The bath gets better I promise! It took about 2 weeks for Dasha to get over her fear of the bath.

  4. Can't wait to see pictures of your little boy! That is wonderful that you could get everything done quickly in Moscow. Our little boy did not sit down in the bath tub for over a year after we had him home. The 1st few months he cried and then he just got in, stood up and got washed and he wanted out of there. We tried everything and nothing seemed to work and then all of a sudden over a year later, he sat down and loves his baths now!!!! It is great that he is eating so well and likes to be cuddled and rocked. Safe travels home.

  5. This is wonderful news on all fronts and glad it will be such a super fast trip for you! With our son my husband took his first bath with him to show him what it was all about and we never had a problem after that I think he is just scared of the unknown. I have already mentioned to my son he will need to show his brother and sister all about baths and he is ready! Safe and calm travels home!!!

  7. What a small world! I found your blog a few months ago and have been following your updates. And...my husband and I were in Russia this past week to meet our son for the first time. As I'm sitting here in the airport at JFK, (checking e-mail, etc...) I looked at your profile picture more closely and we were just on the same flight from Moscow to JFK!!! My husband and I noticed y'all immediately when we were boarding because we wondered if maybe y'all were bringing your son home for the first time! WOW!! Congratulations and God bless you and your precious son!! (He did great on the flight!)

  9. The finish line is in sight! Hurray! Angelina acted the same way towards baths. About one month after we got home, she warmed up to the idea and now cries whenever it is time for her to get out!

    Congratulations to you all!

  10. So great! Congrats!! Vera was the same with baths. Russians don't bath children in bathtubs. They bathe them in old school like bins... If that makes sense. A Russian friend shared that info with me :-). Anyway, water play when we got home quickly cured the fear. Not sure the age of your little one, but maybe it will help. Just get some bowls and cups and play play play. After a doing that two ot three times... I put two inches of water in the tub and sat Vera down. Soon as I brought the same toys we used for water play in there I could convince her to get out! Lol.
